Weekly Review

On 28th September, I showcased the five new webpages to Dr. Shawn to assess them. There were a lot of revisions that needed to be done regarding the descriptions, and how close they were to the edge of the screen, so I noted those down. I also had to add a disclaimer at the bottom of the website that the illustrations used were from Freepik.

Time for Editing!

I started by editing the descriptions’ margins so that they don’t look visually off. Next, I replaced one of the images that featured a gamer in an esports tournament to a one of a drummer, since Sayembara has never been involved in gaming-related competitions before. Thus, avoiding overpromising the usability of Sayembara. After that, I made sure that every description for each of the webpages had the accurate information that Dr. Shawn provided.

After working on the descriptions, I edited the aspect ratio for the photos used for the website to ensure none were too big or too small. This was especially necessary for the illustrations used for the ‘header’ of the website, since some of them took too much of the screen before I edited them to be smaller.

I also made sure to add the disclaimer in the footer of the website, and edited the menus to include all five new webpages.

Reflection

I learned a great deal on how assets shouldn’t be used without being credited, and the need to inform the website visitors on where certain images were gotten from. Not only that, I also need to ensure that whatever image or description I come up with for any website’s company must reflect their proper usage history, instead of possibly overselling a certain product.

Next Week’s Plans

Since I only have two weeks left to work on the Sayembara website, all that’s left to do is to work on the website’s layout to ensure it looks proper on both smartphones and desktops, and perhaps cleaning up the media library if need be!
