Weekly Review
On 22nd September, I showed Dr. Shawn the new layout of the website, as well as the two versions that had different ‘Why Choose Us?’ sections. Due to the amount of faces being shown, however, we decided to scrap the section for the better.
Since the main page is now 90% finalized, he suggested that I should start working on the individual pages for each section of the ‘flowchart’.
The Making of Each Webpage
I started doing my current week’s task by duplicating the main page five times, and followed the mockup I had made for the top section of each webpage. Then, I searched through Freepik for some suitable photos to go along with the description of each function of Sayembara.
I did use artificial intelligence to aid with describing each feature, but I made sure to do some minimal adjustments by cutting some sentences off and changing a bit of the wording to make it suit better. However, since I planned to go through the describing of the application’s features with Dr. Shawn himself, I figured that I should ask him if any of the descriptions were correct on next week’s meeting.
After the five webpages were ‘done’, I published each of them privately so that I could link them to the main page. I also made sure that the ‘Read More’ button automatically scrolls the visitor to the section of the webpage that describes Sayembara and its functions.
Reflection
By referring to the Canva mockup that was finalized last month, I have actually saved a lot of time trying to plan out how each individual webpage would look like this week. Not only that, I was able to re-use the stock graphics I edited before and uploaded them simply onto WordPress, with doing a little touch-up just in case they looked off. The part that took large amount of time was just searching for suitable photos. This taught me that, at times, having a visual plan before you do a project can actually save you a lot of time in the future!
Next Week’s Plans
I hope that I can finalize the look and description each webpage next week, and perhaps even the main page themselves.
