Customising the Default Layout and Fixing the Overflow Issue
This week, I continued working on the React Admin issue assigned by Dr Shawn which is default layout customisation by creating a new copyright information button and displaying database information at the bottom-left corner of the side menu.
After I submitted my pull request, Dr Shawn highlighted an overflow issue with the database URL display, and I spent most of my time this week working on resolving it. However, it turned out to be a simple problem that did not require a complex algorithm to fix.
Learning Through Guidance and Hands-On Event Experience
While most interns were resting over the weekend, I spent my Saturday and Sunday working as an event tech assistant. On Saturday, I had the opportunity to be guided by Izatul Afrina, a senior intern at AESTE who was attending her final event as a tech assistant. She taught me almost everything I needed to learn about handling my responsibilities during an event. I truly appreciate everything she shared with me, and the experience of working alongside her will remain a meaningful part of my internship journey. On Sunday, I was asked to set up all the devices for the event on my own. Thankfully, I was able to apply everything I had learned from my senior intern, and the event proceeded smoothly throughout the day.
My responsibility was to set up the devices used by the judges, ushers and emcees, ensuring that everyone could access and use our web services properly throughout the event. Furthermore, when I experienced our own web services from a user’s perspective, I discovered many unexpected user interactions and gained a deeper understanding of how our web services work throughout an event.
Next week plans
Next week, I plan to continue resolving the issues assigned by Dr Shawn while exploring the codebase further to develop a deeper understanding of how the overall system works.
