Week 4: Figuring Things Out, One Step at a Time

Understanding Riverpod Better

This week, I continued focusing on learning Riverpod, especially the differences between version 2 and version 3. Through reading documentation and exploring examples, I gained a clearer understanding of how both versions work and how certain implementations have changed. This helped me approach the migration process with better clarity instead of relying on trial and error.

Exploring the Mixin Implementation

One of my main focuses this week was to determine whether the mixin could still be implemented in Riverpod v3. After studying and experimenting, I found that it is still possible to use the mixin, although it requires a different and more careful approach. However, I am still exploring better ways to implement it properly. For now, I decided to proceed by upgrading all dependencies to the latest version and temporarily disabling the mixin function to avoid breaking the system.

Hands-On Experience at a Live Event

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to join another live competition event. I was responsible for setting up all IT-related components, including preparing and logging in the web applications on the company’s laptops for the judges and emcee, as well as setting up tablet for the usher. I also ensured that all devices were properly connected and charged so they could function throughout the event.

It was a long day, from 8 AM to 8 PM, but it was a very valuable experience. I had the chance to assist new users, especially judges who were not familiar with the system, and observe how they interacted with the application. This gave me useful insights into user experience and how important it is to design systems that are easy to use.

Looking Ahead

For next week, I plan to continue learning more about mixin implementation in Riverpod v3 and find a better approach to integrate it properly. I also plan to submit my draft suggestions for improving the login button to Dr. Shawn for review. In addition, I will be preparing for another upcoming event in Johor Bahru. Hoping that everything will go smoothly and I can continue learning and improving throughout my internship journey 🙂
